Questions
When did you
start skiing and what's your first good/
bad memory of skiing?
I started skiing when I was 5 years old.
My first bad memory of skiing is ditching
out of ski school almost everyday to go
play video games at the ski base restaurant
with my friend Michael Revael. We would
spend all our lunch money on the Simpsons
video game. My first good memory is getting
a new pair of Rossignol parabolic skis
and finding out how easy it is to turn
with a shaped ski. Thank you technology.
Career Highlights?
This last season has been the greatest
highlight so far. I won my first Freeskiing
competition in Jackson and I've met
so many amazing people involved with
the ski industry; not to mention the
crazy amount of snow this season.
Best Memory on snow?
Wow that's a hard question! Besides
the ridiculous amount of powder days
at Alta 2004/2005, climbing and skiing
peaks in Colorado are some of my best
memories. There's nothing like putting
a full days worth of work and skiing
a steep exposed line with amazing views.
But the best part is drinking a beer
with your friends afterwards, completely
content on life.
What do you do when you're not skiing?
I move with the cycle of seasons. When
the snow melts, I raft with buddies.
When the water clears, I fly fish.
When it doesn't rain, I rock climb
and mountain bike. When it's hunting
season, I hunt. When I'm in school,
I study Geology.
Dream day on snow and with whom?
Two feet of champagne powder, bluebird,
beautiful women greeting you apres
ski.
Favorite place to ski?
Elk Range, Wasatch Range, Teton Range,
and my soon to be new favorite: Alaska
Mountains.
What are you reading
right now?
Glacier Travel & Crevasse Rescue,
for my upcoming trip to Alaska.
What's playing in your
head, stereo, iPod?
That changes day to day. Right now
I'm rocking some Beastie Boys.
Anything
that irks you in the mountains?
The most frustrating thing when traveling
in the mountains, is not having the
proper equipment. Snow travel is hard
enough with the right equipment.
Favorite piece of BD equipment and why?
Verdict skis. It's the perfect everyday
ski that reacts to every situation.
When you decide to turn the heat on,
it is by far the most stable ski I've
been on.
