20 Questions

Describe your favorite day skiing?
Bluebird day with four feet of fresh in the last 2 days, right side up and stable as can be. Ripping big lines with good friends in the backcountry.

Who inspires you?
I am the most inspired by elite alpine climbers. These guys have aggro endurance combined with the power to fire past any obstacle that is thrown at them and a head to keep it all together knowing that the fates could pluck them off this face at any moment. Crazy mental toughness. Alex Lowe, Mark Twight, old-school guys like Hermann Buhl and new-school guys like Steve House. These guys are ridiculously tough mentally and physically.

Favorite piece of BD equipment and why?
Megawatts!!! BIG-MOUNTAIN POW DREAM come true! I love this ski. You can BUTTER any muffin!

Favorite non-BD gear and why?
Ground Iota down jacket. Super-light, super-compactable and super-warm. This jacket is light and small enough that I carry it every day with me in the backcountry.

Training techniques for climbing/skiing?
Ski and climb a lot and listen to your body.

Goals you have for the future?
Way too many to list here. Some top secret ski mountaineering missions. Ski lots of pow and climb all over the world.

Describe the perfect ski trip?
Skiing unexplored mountains in the middle of nowhere with great friends. Nice weather usually helps too.

What are you listening to right now?
The Black Seeds—Into the Dojo

Most recent book that you read?
Cradle to Cradle. A must read for anyone concerned about what we are doing to this planet.

PBR or Micro Brew?
Who's buying?

Anything that upsets you in the mountains in terms of ethics?
People who wear those three-prong jester ski hats.

After a long day skiing what do you go for first—pizza, hamburger, beer, french fries or something else and in what order?
Cheeseburger ASAP.

Anything or anyone that you want to give a shout out to who has helped you along the way?
Everyone that has supported my addiction to the mountains, family and friends far too numerous to list here. All of my sponsors who make it happen: BD, Ground outerwear, Zeal optics, Discrete and Alta.
